Appointments & General Information

We are located just off Highway 67, directly across from Evergreen Golf Course. Look for the big red barn! We share a parking lot with Kiddie Kottage daycare. If you’re having trouble finding us, please give our office a call and we’ll be happy to help guide you.

Yes. We do require appointments for veterinary visits. Please call our office to schedule an appointment for your pet.

There is no need to arrive early. We simply ask that you arrive by your pet’s scheduled appointment time.

Please give us a call if you know you’re going to be late. If you are only a few minutes behind, we can often still see your pet, although there may be a short wait if the next scheduled appointment has already arrived.

If you are more than five minutes late, we may need to reschedule your appointment. This is at the veterinarian’s discretion and depends on the schedule that day, but we will always do our best to accommodate you when possible.

We provide veterinary care for dogs and cats.

Please call us as soon as possible if your pet needs urgent medical attention. We offer a limited number of same-day emergency appointments on a first-come, first-served basis.

Depending on your pet’s condition, our available resources, and staffing, we may be able to provide care at our clinic or may recommend that your pet be seen at an emergency veterinary hospital. Calling ahead allows our team to help determine the best next step for your pet.

Simply call or email our office to request a copy of your pet’s medical records. We can send the records directly to you by email.

We do not offer boarding services at our clinic.

We do not offer routine grooming services. However, we do provide medicated baths and sedated grooming when medically necessary as part of a patient's veterinary care. If you're unsure whether your pet may need one of these services, please contact us and our team can help determine the best next step.

New Client Information

Yes! We are happy to welcome new clients and their pets to our clinic. New-client appointments are generally scheduled about 1–2 weeks in advance, although availability may vary.

Please call our office to schedule your pet’s first appointment. A deposit equal to the cost of the exam is required to reserve all new-client appointments. Please see our Policies section below for additional information regarding our new-client deposit policy.

Please contact your pet’s previous veterinary clinic and ask them to send your pet’s medical records directly to us. Because veterinary records require owner authorization for release, your previous clinic will need to receive permission from you before sending them.

If your pet’s medical records have been sent to us prior to the appointment, there is generally nothing additional you need to bring. If we have not received their records, please bring any medical and vaccination records you have with you.

New-patient appointments generally last about 30 minutes. This gives our team time to get to know you and your pet, review their medical history, perform an exam, and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

For new clients, we generally schedule one pet per appointment. This allows our veterinarian adequate time to review each new patient’s medical history and provide a thorough examination.

Wellness & Preventative Care

We recommend that dogs and cats have a wellness exam at least once a year. Regular exams allow our veterinarians to monitor your pet’s overall health and identify potential concerns early.

Your pet’s vaccination needs depend on their age, lifestyle, and individual risk factors. Rabies vaccination is required by law for dogs and is highly recommended for cats.

We require pets undergoing procedures at our clinic to be current on both rabies and distemper vaccinations. Other vaccines will be discussed with you during your pet’s appointment so we can determine which are appropriate based on their individual needs and lifestyle.

Yes. We still recommend that indoor cats remain current on their rabies vaccination. Strictly indoor cats may not need some of the additional vaccines recommended for cats that spend time outdoors or have other exposure risks. Your veterinarian can help determine what is appropriate for your cat.

We recommend scheduling your puppy or kitten’s first veterinary exam at around 8 weeks of age. This is also typically when we begin their initial vaccination series and discuss preventive care, nutrition, and what to expect as they grow.

Yes. We recommend year-round heartworm prevention as well as year-round flea and tick prevention.

At a minimum, flea and tick prevention should continue through the first deep freeze of the year and begin again by March. Ticks can become active whenever temperatures rise above freezing, even during the winter months.

The best age to spay or neuter your pet can vary depending on their breed, size, and individual needs. In general, we do not perform spay or neuter procedures before 6 months of age.

In some circumstances, we may recommend an earlier procedure if your pet begins displaying hormone-related behaviors such as mounting, spraying, or aggression. Your veterinarian will discuss the appropriate timing for your individual pet with you.

Diagnostics & Laboratory Testing

Yes. We offer digital radiographs (X-rays) in-house, allowing our veterinarians to evaluate your pet without needing to refer you to another facility for routine imaging.

We have limited in-house ultrasound capabilities that can be used for certain purposes, such as confirming pregnancy or checking for fluid within the abdomen.

When a comprehensive abdominal or cardiac ultrasound is recommended, we work with a mobile ultrasound service that sends an ultrasonographer directly to our clinic to perform the scan. The images are reviewed by a board-certified radiologist, and we typically receive a detailed report within 1–2 days.

Our in-house laboratory allows us to perform a variety of diagnostic tests with results often available during your pet’s visit. Some of our most commonly performed tests include:

  • Complete blood count (CBC) and blood chemistry

  • Urinalysis

  • Progesterone testing

  • Ear cytology

  • 4DX testing for heartworm and common tick-borne diseases

We also have several additional in-house testing options available depending on your pet’s needs.

Many of our in-house diagnostic tests provide results quickly. Approximate testing times include:

  • CBC and chemistry: about 30 minutes

  • Urinalysis: about 10 minutes

  • Ear cytology: about 8 minutes

  • 4DX testing: about 8 minutes

Testing times may vary depending on the test being performed and your pet’s individual circumstances. If a sample needs to be sent to an outside laboratory, our team will let you know when you can expect results.

Bloodwork gives our veterinarians important information about your pet’s health that cannot always be determined through a physical examination alone. It can help evaluate organ function, including the kidneys and liver, and may help identify certain illnesses or other underlying health concerns.

Bloodwork may be recommended when your pet is sick, prior to certain procedures, or as part of routine preventive care. Routine bloodwork becomes especially helpful as pets age because it allows us to monitor changes and establish trends in their normal values over time.

Bloodwork is always optional, and our veterinarian will discuss any recommended testing with you so you can decide what is right for your pet.

Yes. Some specialized tests must be sent to an outside laboratory for processing.

We can also send routine bloodwork to an outside laboratory as a lower-cost alternative to running the same testing in-house. While this option can reduce the cost of testing, results will not be available the same day. Our team can discuss the available options with you and help you decide which is most appropriate for your pet.

Surgeries & Procedures

We typically have several procedures scheduled each surgery day. The veterinarian will determine the surgical order that morning based on the procedures and individual needs of each patient.

Most of our procedures are outpatient procedures, meaning your pet will be able to return home later the same day. We will keep you updated and contact you once your pet is awake and recovering.

Pets should be fasted prior to surgery. Please do not give your pet any food or treats after 9:00 PM the night before their procedure.

Your pet may continue to have access to water overnight and the morning of surgery.

Yes. In most cases, your pet should receive their regularly scheduled medications the morning of surgery. If needed, medication may be given with the smallest possible amount of food or peanut butter necessary to help your pet take it.

If your pet is diabetic or takes insulin, please follow the specific instructions provided by our veterinary team. We will discuss any necessary adjustments with you prior to your pet’s procedure.

Surgical patients should be dropped off between 8:30 and 9:00 AM on the morning of their procedure. Our team will get your pet settled in and prepared for surgery.

Your pet’s discharge time will depend on when their procedure is performed and how they recover from anesthesia. Once your pet is awake and recovering well, our team will contact you to schedule a discharge time.

Most surgical patients are able to go home between 2:00 and 4:00 PM the same day.

Pain management is tailored to your pet and the procedure being performed. For routine spay and neuter procedures, pets are typically sent home with several days of oral pain medication.

Following dental procedures, additional pain medication may not be necessary unless your pet has had extractions or more extensive dental work. When appropriate, pain medication and/or antibiotics may be prescribed.

Any medications your pet needs at home, including dosing instructions, will be reviewed with you at discharge.

Recovery instructions vary depending on your pet and the procedure performed. Following a routine spay or neuter, pets generally need to remain calm and have their activity restricted for approximately 10–14 days. We also recommend using an Elizabethan collar (cone) to prevent licking or chewing at the incision.

For pets who have difficulty remaining calm during recovery, we may prescribe a mild oral sedative such as trazodone when appropriate.

Your pet’s specific post-operative instructions will be reviewed with you in detail at discharge so you know what to expect and how to care for them at home.

If you have questions or concerns about your pet’s recovery during our regular business hours, please call the clinic so our team can assist you.

If your pet is experiencing an emergency when our clinic is closed, please contact a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital, such as WVRC in Waukesha at 262-542-3241 or VEG in Brookfield at 262-267-8240.

Prescriptions & Medications

Please call our office to request a medication refill for your pet. Our team will review your pet’s medical record and let you know when the prescription is ready or if anything additional is needed before it can be refilled.

Please allow up to 24 hours for routine prescription refill requests.

Special-order medications may take 1–2 weeks to arrive, so we recommend requesting these medications well before your pet’s current supply runs out.

Your pet must have a current veterinarian-client-patient relationship with our clinic in order for us to prescribe or refill medication. In general, this means your pet must have been examined by one of our veterinarians within the past year.

We also cannot prescribe medication for a new medical concern without appropriately evaluating your pet. For example, if you suspect your pet has an ear infection or urinary tract infection, an examination and/or diagnostic testing may be needed before medication can be prescribed.

Yes! We are happy to send your pet’s prescription to an outside pharmacy.

If you are ordering through an online pharmacy, such as Chewy or 1-800-PetMeds, simply place your order through their website. The pharmacy will contact us directly for authorization when needed.

We also have our own online pharmacy, where you can conveniently order your pet’s medications and have them shipped directly to your home.

Shop our online pharmacy and support your local veterinary clinic:

Some medications require routine bloodwork to make sure they continue to be safe and appropriate for your pet. Certain medications can affect the kidneys or liver, so periodic testing allows us to monitor organ function while your pet is taking them.

Other medications, including thyroid and seizure medications, may require bloodwork to monitor medication levels or your pet’s response to treatment and ensure the prescribed dose remains appropriate.

Your veterinarian will let you know what monitoring is recommended for your pet and how often it should be performed.

If your pet is reluctant to take medication, try hiding the pill in a small amount of a favorite food such as cheese, lunch meat, liverwurst, peanut butter, or a marshmallow. Always make sure any food or peanut butter you use is free of xylitol, which is toxic to pets.

If hiding the medication does not work, some pills can be given by placing the medication toward the back of your pet’s mouth, gently closing their mouth, and encouraging them to swallow.

Still struggling? Please give us a call. Depending on the medication, it may be possible to have it compounded into another form, such as a flavored liquid, chewable tablet, or transdermal medication. Compounded medications are not available for every prescription and are generally more expensive, but our team can discuss available options with you.

End of Life Care

After your pet is entrusted to our care, they are treated with dignity and respect throughout the entire process. Cremation takes place at our own crematory, allowing our team to oversee your pet’s care from beginning to end.

Families may choose either private or communal cremation. With private cremation, your pet is cremated individually and their cremated remains are returned to you. With communal cremation, pets are cremated together and cremated remains are not returned.

We offer a variety of memorial options to help you honor and remember your pet, including memorial urns, clay paw prints, ink paw prints, and other keepsake items. Our team can help you choose a memorial that feels meaningful to you and your family.

The time needed for cremation varies depending on your pet’s size and the services selected. For private cremation, cremated remains are typically ready to be returned to your family within a few days. Our team will provide more information about the expected timeline when arrangements are made.

Cremation costs vary based on your pet’s size, the type of cremation selected, and any memorial or keepsake items you choose. Please contact our team for current pricing and to discuss the options available for your pet.

Yes, when private cremation is selected. Your pet is cremated individually, and their cremated remains are returned to you. We also offer communal cremation, in which pets are cremated together and cremated remains are not returned to the family.

Yes. Families are welcome to bring their pet directly to our crematory. We ask that you contact us in advance so our team can prepare for your arrival and be available to assist you when you arrive.

In some circumstances, families may be able to arrange a private farewell beforehand. These options are available by arrangement and may depend on scheduling. Please contact our team in advance to discuss what may be available.

If your pet passes away at home, please contact us. Our team will gently guide you through the next steps and help you make arrangements for your pet’s care. We can assist with transportation from our clinic to our crematory or arrange a time for you to bring your pet directly to our crematory.

We understand that the loss of a pet does not always happen during regular business hours. After-hours assistance may be available depending on the circumstances and staff availability. Please contact our crematory directly to discuss your needs, and we will do our best to help you make arrangements for your pet.

We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. For scheduled surgical procedures, we require at least 3 business days’ notice.

Appointments or procedures canceled with less than the required notice may result in the loss of any deposit paid. We understand that unexpected circumstances can occur, and exceptions may be considered on an individual basis.
